Message from Director

On behalf of the Iranian center for Evidence Based Medicine, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to Tabriz, Iran and to the first International Congress of Evidence Based Medicine in developing countries in collaboration with Oxford Center for Evidence Based Medicine (CEBM), to be held April 20-23, 2010.

Iran is the cradle of a civilization and culture that has had major impact on the world for more than 2,500 years of written history. Recent archaeological studies indicate that as 10,000 BC, tribes lived on the southern shores of the Caspian Sea, one of the few regions of the world which according to scientists escaped the Ice Age. Tabriz located in northwestern of Iran with 1.3 million inhabitants (2005 estimate). Tabriz is the capital of East Azerbaijan province with 3.5 million inhabitants. Tabriz has been settled since ancient times and in 4th century BC, an ancient kingdom established by the satrap Atropates.

The scientific program has been designed to address contemporary practical and relevant issues that concern clinicians about Evidence Based Practice. We have invited outstanding international and Iranian speakers chosen on the basis of their high expertise and ability to contribute valid scientific and clinical information for health care promotion. New and developing innovations and research will also be presented during an exciting four days of programming.

Iranian Center for Evidence Based Medicine founded 4 years ago. On 2010 we are going to hold on the first congress and third international EBM workshop in Tabriz for all health care specialists including physicians, nurses, dentists, medical librarians, pharmacists and other healthcare workers.

Last year the second workshop was held on Tabriz with more than 150 participants from several universities with full of success and very nice memorable event.

My colleagues has been working hard since a year ago in planning all the above objectives for better organization and best scientific program. Many distinguished clinicians, Nurses, librarians and scientists have joined the center and will take part in this congress. Papers will be presented in the form of plenary sessions, symposia and posters and will include superb scientific material that are carefully selected by the Scientific Abstract Review committee from many abstracts submitted for presentation at the meeting and high level pre congress workshops.
Please mark congress dates in your calendar for participate in a high level congress in Tabriz. We hope that you will enjoy the congress and that your interaction with your colleagues from many different countries will stimulate a creative exchange of ideas and will be personally rewarding. We also hope and trust that you will enjoy your visit to the very beautiful and exciting city of Tabriz.
